Just when we thought life could go back to the normality of a pre-covid world, the COVID-19 Delta variant had different plans. They always say that everything’s bigger in Texas and as of August 10, 2021, so is the COVID-19 case count. Keep reading to learn more.  

Don’t Mess With Texas? The Delta Variant Didn’t get the memo

As the new school year approaches, COVID-19 cases are skyrocketing hitting almost 14,000 new cases across the lone star state. According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, The majority of new cases are in individuals between the ages of 20-39[1]. Currently, at almost 53,000 fatalities and rising, the question is, what can we do?  

The CDC recommends all individuals return to wearing their masks regardless of vaccination status. For those who have not been vaccinated, it is encouraged that you do so.[2]

As a reminder, you are recommended to do the following to reduce chances of getting or spreading COVID-19:  

  • Get vaccinated  
  • Wear a mask

  • Clean and disinfect regularly

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Nausea or vomiting 
  • Diarrhea
